how to: apply nail polish that lasts

For Audrey, a Tiffany Blue polish from China Glaze
so here's an advice post i'd like to share that i recently found out through personal experience. the picture above is my perfectly intact nail polish that i painted four days ago. i thought it's amazing how it didn't chip after so long so here i am ready to share my manicure tips!

here's my naked nails without even base coat on. it's definitely stained and the tips are yellow (primarily because i paint my nails a lot) but recently i've been applying base coat so that i can prevent nail staining. the base coat i use is OPI's Original Formula Start to Finish Base & Top Coat.

I stopped using this as my top coat because it doesn't dry very fast and i'm an extremely impatient person.
here's my nails with base coat on. and while i let that dry, i started watching a movie (which is what i usually do when i do my nails).

Jurassic Park! one of my favorite movies :) amazing amazing amazing!

anyways back to my nails, then i used revlon's Vintage Rose which is one of the nail polishes i featured in my nail polish haul here.

this is my nails after i applied one coat. i definitely think this polish looks great with one coat alone, but i don't want it to chip...
the name Vintage Rose cannot be more suiting for this polish! amazing!
so i applied another coat which gave this polish a darker look.

you can definitely see the difference.
after that i put on my go-to top coat: sally hansen Mega Shine Top Coat.

this top coat really gives a nice shine to my nails and it dries faster than the opi base and top coat. now here's the trick: apply this top coat two times. applying two coats of top coat, i realized, definitely helps the staying power of the nail polish on my nails.

so here's my finished nails! all dried and ready! (with my ring i bought from my accessory haul). looks great doesn't it?
